Minutes of last meeting

CQC Inspections discussed - Ash Surgery achieved a  Good result.  Inspections are usually every 5 years after good result.  Sooner if not.

Magazines in waiting room – agreed that these will be removed.

Public reference Group discussed.   HRG meetings also discussed.

Measles – recent outbreak discussed.  SS reported that Public Health have been in contact with all CCGs to ensure Surgery immunisations for all staff are up to date.

Ash Surgery to become teaching practice.

The Group were informed that from September of this year qualified 2nd year doctors who want to train as GPs will begin working here. They will see their own patients with some blocked slots for Dr Fox to supervise and they will rotate every 4 months.

Ash Surgery will also have Year 1 medical students from Kent Medical School who are in training to be paramedics/doctors and they will observe all aspects for the practice by sitting with staff members.

Paramedic.  It was reported that Richard Simmons, our in house Paramedic, who is a permanent member of staff, will soon be taking his Masters for advanced nurse practitioner after which he will be able to prescribe.  It was further discussed that if Richard has seen a patient twice for the same problem and they need to be seen again they will then be referred to a GP.

On Line reviews

Encouraging patients to leave ‘good’ reviews on line – discussed.

It was reiterated that Ash needs new patients.  200 houses planned in Ash up to 2026 yet to be decided by DDC.   Ash Surgery will have the capacity to cope.

New PPG Members

SS asked if the PPG could try to recruit members by asking patients face to face.

Registering as a new patient – making it easier discussed.  Cannot see that we could make the process any easier – records should come over GP to GP within hours but this is dependent on previous surgery sending.

On line appointments to be extended to end of August.

Parish Magazine

Agreed good idea to re-establish article re Ash Surgery – SS said she will write,  starting by introducing herself and  explaining that she will be accessible to patients.  This can also be put in the Staple Magazine.

Garden.  Ash Surgery now has a gardener who hopefully will continue to maintain it.

It was noted that Dr Smith’s name is still on letters from hospital – SS said she will email hospital and change to Dr Lambie.

Date of next meeting

Wednesday, 16th October 2019 – 2.30 pm
